Cyber, Swords & Symphonies – 2021 has it all!

  • by

Post-lockdown life may be a short while off yet, but when it arrives, we have three varied and entertaining pop-up escape room challenges to look forward to in 2021. We will be launching two brand new rooms this year as well as extending the run of our existing room, “Hacked”.

Hacked is a unique escape room with a cyber theme. The players need to recover a hacked website, by entering the website itself.

In a twist on the traditional escape room, in addition to escaping the room in less than an hour, they also try to keep hold of as many ‘bitcoins’ as they can too. Hacked was very popular with the players who tackled it in between lockdowns in 2020, and so it has been extended into 2021 to give more players a chance to try it out (the pop-up escape rooms usually change every six months).

Hester’s Craft is a new room for 2021 and, in complete contrast to the cyber world, is set in the rustic cottage of Hester, Cheltenham’s infamous witch.

Players need to help Hester create a magical sword to choose a new King in far off lands. Players who enjoyed The King’s Quest room previously will enjoy this spin off room of potions and magic portals, but with all new puzzles never seen before!

An exciting collaboration with The Holst Birthplace Museum in Cheltenham has resulted in a further new escape room, The Missing Piece.

Gustav Holst was a prolific composer of music and the possibility of lost works just waiting to be discovered intrigues Holst enthusiasts. This room requires players to enter into the world of the composer of The Planets and solve the mystery of ‘the missing piece’ in order to escape within the allotted time.

“Working with Escape Rooms Cheltenham on ‘The Missing Piece’ has been a highlight of the recent lockdown. I’m intrigued by the game’s theme and its challenge to discover that all-important lost composition. The museum is always looking for new and creative ways to work with people – entering the world of escape games has proved to be the ideal opportunity!”

The three pop-up rooms will be launched after the current lockdown is lifted, and will run for six months each. They are all family-friendly and all have standard and challenging versions to suit players of all abilities. The 2020 prices of £15-£20 per person will also remain throughout 2021.

“We’re really excited about the new 2021 rooms and particularly the collaboration with Holst Birthplace Museum. We love doing the pop-up rooms. We know our regular players love the variety, so we’ll continue to do many more.”
