In December we were really pleased to finally be able to visit the Holst Victorian House in Cheltenham and begin work on our new Holst-themed escape room in earnest.
We started discussions with the Holst Victorian House as far back as 2020, but with Covid and our other escape rooms, it has taken a while to get to this point. However, with our other limited edition escape rooms, “Hacked” and “Hester’s Craft”, now successfully built and being enjoyed by players, we’re finally starting work on our Holst room: “The Missing Piece”.
The room’s story will centre around an unpublished piece of music created by Holst and hidden inside the museum by his daughter Imogen, for avid fans to discover years later. Players will be able to enjoy period decor, musical themed puzzles with features never before seen in our rooms, and all the while get to learn about one of our country’s most influential composers.
Gustav Holst, the composer of ‘The Planets’ suite and many other beautiful pieces of music, was born in Cheltenham in 1874, just round the corner from our venue in Winchcombe St! His house is now a museum where you can revisit all his past works and gain an insight into life not only in the Holst family, but what life was like in Cheltenham over 100 years ago.
We are very excited to be able to work alongside Laura and Emily from the Holst Victorian House to help gain valuable insider knowledge about Holst’s life and allow us to create a unique escape room.
‘The Missing Piece’ will be available to play from Saturday 9th April and will run for 6 months.
