Who Was Hester?

Now that Operation Foresight is up and running, the next room to open in August will be Hester’s Craft. Work is well under way to build and test the room, which is loosely based on Cheltenham’s favourite witch, Hester.

Folklore has it that Hester was decapitated and thrown down a well in Fiddlers Green (or variations of that theme), and the Hesters Way area of Cheltenham was named after her. Although, according to Hesters Way historian, Chris Green, “Hesters Way undoubtedly … has nothing to do with a person called Hester” – but the legend of Hester continues.

We like to think of Hester as more of a Cheltenham hero than villain and have reimagined her into a new escape room theme full of witches, spells and adventurous quests. For those escapers who enjoyed the King’s Quest, this is on a similar theme, but with all brand new puzzles, and in our new larger rooms at the Winchcombe St venue.

Hester’s Craft is a new pop-up room, so will run for just six months and then be replaced with a new room. It will open in August – date to be announced, so look out for bookings being opened soon.
